Paulina Gwoździewicz-Matan, legal counsel, doctor of law, assistant professor at the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Silesia.
She specializes in intellectual property law, civil law, and the protection of cultural property. She is the author of dozens of publications, including those related to the legal foundations of the art market and museums, as well as copyright aspects of cultural institutions. She has presented at numerous conferences, including international ones, seminars, and training sessions, including those for museum professionals and artists. Furthermore, she is a member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and a supporting member of the Polish Association of Museum Inventorists.

Zajmuje się prawem ochrony własności intelektualnej, prawem cywilnym oraz prawem ochrony dóbr kultury. Jest autorką kilkudziesięciu publikacji, w tym m.in. związanych z podstawami prawnymi funkcjonowania rynku sztuki, muzeów oraz prawnoautorskimi aspektami działalności instytucji kultury. Prelegentka na wielu konferencjach, również międzynarodowych, seminariach i szkoleniach, w tym dla muzealników i twórców. Jest członkiem Międzynarodowej Rady Muzeów ICOM oraz członkiem wspierającym Polskiego Stowarzyszenia Inwentaryzatorów Muzealnych.

"Born-digital objects in museums - a legal perspective"
Protecting digital heritage is also a task and a challenge for museums. This task is important because born-digital objects (including audiovisual objects) constitute a significant part of museum collections and, as such, are subject to legal protection. It is a challenge because the digital form of an object eludes the traditional legal framework intended for tangible objects (things). The presentation will place digital collections in the context of applicable legal regulations by, among other things, identifying what constitutes a digital object in the legal sense. The remarks will primarily address born-digital objects and will serve as a starting point for considerations on managing digital collections in museums—acquiring, inventorying, sharing, and curating objects.

„Obiekty born-digital w muzeach - perspektywa prawna”
Ochrona dziedzictwa cyfrowego to również zadanie i wyzwanie dla muzeów. Zadanie, bo obiekty born-digital (w tym audiowizualne) stanowią istotną część kolekcji muzealnych i jako takie podlegają ochronie przewidzianej w przepisach prawa. Wyzwanie – bo cyfrowa postać obiektu wymyka się z tradycyjnych ram prawnych przeznaczonych dla obiektów materialnych (rzeczy). Przedmiotem wystąpienia będzie osadzenie zbiorów cyfrowych w kontekście obowiązujących przepisów prawa poprzez m.in. wskazanie czym jest obiekt cyfrowy w sensie prawnym. Uwagi będą odnosić się przede wszystkim do obiektów pierwotnie cyfrowych (born-digital) i będą stanowić punkt wyjścia do rozważań na temat zarządzania kolekcją cyfrową w muzeum - nabywaniem obiektów, ich ewidencjonowaniem, udostępnianiem i opieką.
